About Us

A typical flight includes a quick pre-flight briefing covering the basic airplane control and safety devices before climbing in and buckling up. The intercom is turned on, and you'll have constant communication with your pilot.

Taking off from the 2200 ft. grass runway at Sandy River Airport, you will notice that the TalonXP accelerates quickly and only requires a small fraction of the runway to get airborne.

Climbing at full power, the farmlands and nurseries of eastern Clackamas county quickly open up before you, as well as the forested flanks of 11,237 foot Mount Hood.

Flying north, you'll look down at the whitewater of the Sandy River and wave to fishermen at Roslyn Lake. To your left, the skyline of downtown Portland is silhouetted against the West Hills.

Soon the Columbia River appears before you, and your pilot will give you a fantastic view of the Vista House at Crown Point and the Columbia River Gorge. You'll probably see river traffic or freight trains snaking their way through the Gorge before turning south again.

A full flight training program is also available through Sport Flight Aviation
You'll notice the numerous small airports and landing strips in the area, and on a clear day, you'll easily spot landmarks as far as 50 miles away or more.

Along the way your pilot will give you a chance to take the controls and feel how the airplane responds to your touch. He will coach you through some basic maneuvers and you'll quickly become comfortable, noticing that the TalonXP is very stable as it cruises along.

Finally, when it's time to return, your pilot will point out the airport in the distance and explain the approach procedure as he brings you in for a graceful landing.
